Jerry Alena

Jerry co-founded Choose High Performance after twenty years of sales experience as a top producer in the pension and insurance market. He also helped launch the Choose Love Movement after the murder of his friend, six-year-old Jesse Lewis, at Sandy Hook Elementary School. He is a gifted teacher, coach and consultant.

He spent twenty years as a top producer for John Hancock Life Insurance Company and The Hartford. In 2015 he was elected a “Top Wingman” by the National Association of Pension Producers. Jerry believes sales is a team effort and he led elite teams in his tenure as a professional. 

Jerry Alena is also the National Director of Corporate Development for the Choose Love Movement. His children and the Lewis children developed tight friendships at Sandy Hook Elementary School. After Jesse’s murder, Jerry joined the Choose Love Movement as a founding Board member, and Jerry’s wife, Diane, edited the movement’s newsletter. In 2019, at a graveside memorial service to celebrate Jesse’s life, Scarlett Lewis, Jesse’s mom, asked Jerry to lead Choose Love for the Workplace (CLW) which later became Choose High Performance, an independent public benefit corporation that donates a percent of net profits to the Choose Love Movement.

A graduate of the University of Connecticut, Jerry is an avid runner and devours Winston Churchill biographies as if he were cramming for a surprise exam that could be given at any minute.
